Specialist in Endodontics & Microsurgery

Dr. Amber Ather received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S) degree in 2007 followed by his Master’s Degree in Endodontics in 2011 from Manipal University, India.

Following his graduation from endodontic residency, Dr. Ather worked as an Assistant Professor from 2011-2013 at the Manipal College of Dental Sciences.In 2015, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado. He was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the national dental honor society. After dental school he practiced as a general dentist for almost 2 years in community health centers in Texas. Dr. Ather earned his Certificate in Endodontics in 2020 and his Master’s degree in Endodontics in 2021 from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School.

Currently, Dr. Ather is a full-time faculty member of the Endodontic Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry. Dr. Ather has a keen interest in clinical research and has published several articles in well reputed journals. His areas of research include pain and surgical endodontics. He serves as the Associate Editor for BMC Oral Health Journal and is on the Scientific Advisory Board for several journals including the Journal of Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics, and PLOS ONE. He was awarded the “ADA 10 under 10” award in 2021 in recognition of his contribution to dentistry.

Dr. Ather is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and the Richmond Dental Society. He also serves on the continuing education committee for American Association of Endodontists (AAE).

In his free time, Dr. Ather likes to travel and spend quality time with his wife and his young son. He is an avid photographer and has one of his works published in National Geographic.
