Woman with pain needs Root Canal Therapy 23111
November 21, 2022

Like it or not, your mouth is a vulnerable place. Bacteria enter your body through your mouth as you enjoy your favorite foods and drinks may cause an infection. If you’re dealing with a badly infected tooth pulp, be glad to know that root canal therapy in 23111 can resolve this issue, strengthen your tooth, and help you achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dentists perform a root canal procedure to save a decayed or infected tooth. Besides eliminating bacteria from an infected root canal, this treatment prevents reinfection and further damage. During the process, the dentist carefully removes the inflamed or infected pulp and thoroughly cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth before filling and sealing it.

What You Should and Shouldn’t Do After a Root Canal Procedure

DO Brush Your Teeth

Once the numbness in your mouth wears off, you can brush your teeth. While at it, apply soft strokes as you slowly and carefully clean your treated tooth.

DON’T Eat Anything Until Numbing Medication Wears Off

It would be best if you didn’t eat anything until the anesthesia’s numbing effect hasn’t completely worn off. Otherwise, you might end up biting your tongue or cheek.

DO Chew Soft Food

Keeping your nutritional requirements in mind promotes quicker recovery. However, you’ll want to stick to a soft diet within the next few days following your root canal therapy. Your dentist may give you an approved list of what you should eat while recovering from the procedure. These foods typically include the following:

  • Mashed potatoes, soft salads, macaroni and cheese, and soups
  • Cream of wheat, eggs, pancakes, and milk
  • Yogurt, milkshakes, smoothies, and ice cream
  • Mangoes, peaches, bananas, and pears
  • Hummus, pudding, and applesauce

DON’T Forget to Rinse Your Mouth with Saltwater

Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water three times a day after a root canal procedure will help reduce swelling and discomfort.
