Where can I get a Short Pump Root Canal?
February 16, 2021

After a Short Pump root canal therapy, expect to experience tooth sensitivity while waiting for the placement of your permanent filling or dental crown. For this reason, it’s best to eat soft food for a few days following the procedure. After all, it’s much better to watch what you eat after receiving treatment rather than to manage an infection later.

Do and Don’t’s

What to Eat or Drink

Since root canals require time to heal, consuming foods that don’t have to be chewed much is strongly recommended. To speed up your recovery process, you should eat soft foods that include the following:

  • Yogurt
  • Peaches
  • Mangoes
  • Bananas
  • Pears
  • Applesauce
  • Cream of wheat
  • Rice pudding
  • Mashed cauliflower or potatoes
  • Thin pasta
  • Tofu
  • Hummus
  • Pudding
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Pancakes
  • Oatmeal
  • Tuna salad
  • Eggs
  • Sushi
  • Soups that don’t have crunchy or chewy ingredients
  • Fruit smoothies
  • Milkshakes
  • Ice cream than doesn’t have nuts or anything chewy and crunchy in them

What Not To Eat or Drink

Since you’ll be instructed to follow a soft diet for a few days, be sure to avoid foods that are hard, chewy, and sticky.  To avoid irritating your teeth, you’ll want to steer clear of spicy foods–they may make your recovery period more difficult for you. Check out the foods you should avoid:

  • Chewing gum
  • Taffy
  • Bread
  • Ice
  • Nuts
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Spicy food
  • Food and drinks that are excessively hot
